listing that popped up over at Amazon yesterday points to a May launch for the Surface Mini. In fact, May 18 is said to be the launch date. Some photos are also published at the page by Vostrostone, an electronics wholesaler. Nice name, by the way! Now, the images show a case designed for the Surface Mini that acts as a protection for the keyboard, lending credence to the rumor that Microsoft have finally completed the development of the device, and are getting ready to publicly launch it soon. Detailed specifications are still up in the air, but it is expected that Microsoft will include an 8-inch screen along with a digitizing pen. This should make it a note-taking device, as per a previous report. Chance are that the Surface Mini will come powered by the Windows RT 8.1 operating system. Nevertheless, since Microsoft have so far completely refused to comment on any of these reports, we will file this as a rumor for now, even though the company has said multiple times in the past that it is looking to expand the Surface product range with new devices. More on this as it develops.]]>
Not a must but I’m hoping they went with a 8:5 screen ratio to make portrait mode a bit more usable.
I agree, John. I do think they need to keep portrait mode in mind. An 8:5 screen ratio would definitely help that.
Lol. I thought the tablet was $10.99. It took me a couple of seconds to realize that was for a case. Either way, it looks pretty good. We’ll see in less than a month I guess.
I think it’s finally time for me to decide if I want a mini tablet or not
And while at it there should be less bezel rooms so as to maximize the screen area.
