Toshiba Kira Ultrabook Lineup Refreshed With A Startling 22 Hours Battery Life

The more pressing matter here, ladies and gentlemen, is why they could not go for a full day, 24 hour charge. That would have been really something. But this is really something too.

Toshiba is most comfortable in the business and enterprise segment. And though the company creates solutions for end users too, its most impressive models are targeted for use in the workplace. Now the company has just unleashed several new ultrabooks under its Kira brand.

Preinstalled with Windows 8.1, and powered by Intel Haswell processors, these sleek laptops are more than a match for competing devices like the MacBook Air and Chromebook Pixel.

Two new updated models have been announced, with availability starting November 20. First of these is the Dynabook KIRA V654 and the other Dynabook KIRA V834. And the first one of the two is the without doubt the more impressive.

The 13.3-inch 1366 by 768 pixel resolution screen does not offer touch capabilities, but the increased battery life more than makes up for it. Toshiba claims out-of-this-world figures of 22 hours.

Even more impressively the device weighs just 1.12 kg, which translates to 2.46 pounds.

A high-resolution model with 2560 by 1440 pixels resolution is also available — but only with 14 hours of battery life. And the word only is used very lightly here. The V834 also offers support for touchscreen, and is powered by Intel Core i5 Haswell CPU with 8GB of RAM just like the other model.

The KIRA V654 is priced at $1,446, while the touch capable V834 should set you back $1,530.
