More and more hardware vendors are reportedly looking to improve on their display standards.
And this is one opportunity Japan based panel makers have identified, as they work to boost up their presence on the Ultra HD tablet market. Japan Display, for instance, is gearing up start production of 12.1-inch panels that offer an astounding 365 ppi resolution.
Panasonic has already made official its deluxe 20-inh Toughpad UT-MB5 tablet that brings to the table a resolution of 3840 by 2560 pixels. Not the one to be left behind, Samsung has also joined the party with its sleek 13.3-inch ATIV Q device that features a 3200 by 1800 pixels resolution.
If all goes according to plan, it is expected Ultra HD tablets will be widely adopted by vendors next year.
As far as Windows powered slates are concerned, Microsoft has improved upon its support for high resolution and high-density displays in Windows 8.1. Intel already supports 4K resolution is its newer Core CPUs, though PC industry is still a fair bit behind in this regard.
But with Windows based tablets starting to take off, we could be in for the good times soon.
