VEVO Also Pulls Its Windows Phone App From The Store

The last few months have been rather tiring on fans of the Window Phone platform, as despite Microsoft’s efforts to bring more developers to the platform, certain big names are actually departing.

Bank of America become the last big name to remove its mobile app from the Windows Phone Store, when the financial giant announced the decision last week.

And now VEVO has followed suit.

The multimedia provider confirmed the move on its website, saying that its official app has been removed permanently from the Windows Phone Store:

“The Vevo app for Windows Phone has been permanently retired. However, there are two ways that you can continue enjoying Vevo content on your Windows phone:

  1. Use the mobile web version of Vevo.com on your phone’s browser.
  2. Use YouTube’s app to view Vevo videos.

The app will still be available on Windows 8.1 for tablets and PCs. Thank you for using Vevo.”

Well, at least the Windows 8 and RT 8.1 app is still up for grabs on the Windows Store.

A question may be raised on just how many users were using the official app to watch videos on their Windows Phone handsets — what with the presence of direct alternatives. Then again, big developers choosing the easy way out instead of updating their solutions is never a good thing.
