I saw this on Neowin yesterday and thought it was a great idea.
I would like to ask you all – what apps are you waiting for in Windows 8 that you haven’t seen yet?
Do you have all the Banking Apps, Games, Travel Apps, Lifestyle Apps etc that you want?
Yes I know there is not a Facebook app yet but apart from that, what are you looking for?
Use the comments below and let us know what apps are missing from Windows 8.
A Bank of America app? And a United App?
Thanks Steve.
🙂
Mouse gestures. I use a browser which have mouse gestures and sometimes my arm try to draw a variety of shapes for example go back in a window or close it, so I think this would be a very usefull thing.

I do not use the Metro GUI because I do not have a touch enabled laptop or desktop. I use the desktop mode exclusively.
I prefer to use secure SSL sessions for my banking, my online purchases from newegg or tigerdirect or ebay and paypal. I use an inprivate session and immediately clear the cache anyhow and restart my machine to prevent any access to my data located on my machine and I would prefer to use vpn but I do not have access to the other end to do so.
I have had my Hotmail account hacked via stolen private information from my college via an IT guy and campus policeman working in concert to steal private information and then they took their lists to New York and sold the information.
So hence the extreme measures for anything involving my private/personal data. In private, single instance, browsing sessions using SSL explicitly and then clearing all caches and a dns flush, and a complete restart…also would prefer to have vpns but you know how it is…Sigh.
I see nothing wrong with the apps, I just do NOT trust them seeing as they like to keep updated in realtime and so on…that to me…provides a direct path in to hack machines to easily. Just to many opportunities and too many enemies of the free and open internet exchange.
Call me paranoid…I AM….and will continue to be overly cautious for as long as I use the internet in any form.
Respectfully,

Something Free that actually serves a Purpose . I see developers complaining about people already finding stealing their apps which i don’t believe in but its also hard to not agree with them when they get offered apps that are absolute junk. Just my opinion but it seems we see Apple apps happening all over again. An app should be something to help improve windows not a sad excuse for a regular Windows Program. Just my thoughts as i haven’t found much of anything useful for apps yet that software doesnt do a better job.

Kik messenger
An official instagram app (guess may only happen if comes to windows phone)

Would love to see a GarageBand competitor
WattPad
YouTube
Viddy
Keek
GifBoom
Racing games
A lot of board games etc up to scratch like dozens in Game Center on iOS.
But the main 4 are kik, instagram, Twitter and Facebook.
I’m so chuffed to see parking mania in there as that was totally AWSOME playing in parallels full screen on my iMac (27″).
What I’m loving about windows 8 having in parallels is that more and more apps from the mobile world are entering the desktop world so that means that if the Mac App Store don’t have it, likely windows store has it so I’m getting the best of both worlds.
Installed pokki too and it’s absolutely fabulous that especially the instagram app that get with it. So handy but still an official app or at least a fully functional metro/modern ui instagram app will be fabulous!!!
And then kik is just what I also need!! Can’t live without kik messenger

I’ve tested Windows from ME up through 8. 8 was the least Buggy from the Beta up, but it is never going to work for industry in a desktop environment. As a matter of fact, desktops aren’t dying, Windows is killing them. Hopefully, common sense will prevail and the best of ‘8’ will be incorporated into 9 and 7.
One for SafariBooksOnline. I contacted them to request it.
Of course they miss a lot of apps that I want. But even for the existing ones, they also miss features that available to the desktop one.
Facebook, Gmail, Google Plus, Google Maps, Twitter, Youtube, Google+, LInkedin, Aroundme, Yelp, Subway Surfers, Citibank, Chase, Sharebuilder, Putty or TeraTerm, VLC(coming soon), VMware Vsphere Client, I think of a million more Microsoft management shells that could be added, Maybe even a console for intune.
Fix and enhance The following existing Apps:
Citrix GotoMeeting
Citrix Reciever
Citrix XenApp Manager
Vmware View Client
And all of this needs to be the same on Windows phone 8 as well. Both platforms need to come together, borrow from eachother and be one.
Grooveshare also, that can go on there also.

Doubtful on VMworkstation, Especially on RT. Windows 8 comes with HyperV installed by default though.
A nice ebook reader like Calibre along with a .cbr/.cbz reader for graphic novels. DVDXcopy and an updated version of DVD shrink with a valid way for us to copy our store bought DVD’s and CD’s so we have backups without having to jump through hoops as well as a nice bluray HD reader recorder. That should about do it. Oh and one more thing, a nice program for editing home movies like Apples Final Cut

Microsoft Windows
Photosynth, PogoPlug, Norton 360, Network Magic, Photoshop and Nero. Wait! I’ll be able to run all of those on a Surface Pro.
installed start button and boot into desktop never use any apps
Third party Apps will migrate as supply and demand dictate and when it makes sense that a developer is willing to add another adaptation ( MS RT, Android, Iphone, Ipad etc). They will eventually come.
I am more concerned about the quality of the Microsoft apps as they appear. Many of the apps (MAIL, PHOTO, Messenger etc) are primitive and missing many features that should be there. Apps that have to link to the desktop all have lousy interfaces and never return.
I use Windows 8 on desktops (and use Metro – there are good things about it) and also have Surface RT.

I just want a better version of the Zinio app. The Android version wasn’t great but it got the job done. The Windows 8 version won’t even allow you to manage your library manually. It’s awful.
The ability to sync with skydrive and have your files available offline.
1) A decent PDF annotation program. Currently, all of them are very limited
2) Something similar to Cam scanner in Android: i.e., a program that gets pictures from the camera (or existing) and post processes it with image-enhancing techniques.
3) A decent Dropbox client. The official one sucks, and the unofficial ones are not very good
4) A decent program for transit directions. gMaps and G Maps hang continuously and don’t offer everything Google transit does. The official “Maps” app does not offer transit directions. Shame on you MS.
5) Better VPN support!
