I would name the new OS as Windows 8, The Vista and XP would named wrong, they were Windows 5 and 6. Keep versions names simple.
Better networking, cleaner boot time, easy restore when your OS goes south, clean uninstall which does remove all traces of the program including registry and hidden files and drop aero.  To me aero is waste of code and memory then no one I know uses the aero interface.
I would release the RC version around April or May after couple of beta versions.  Then release the OEM version around end of July so companies can start installing new Windows and have them on the self for Christmas sales.  The retail version release date around middle or the end Sept. Again getting ready for Christmas season. Â
This is about the same pattern of release dates for Windows 7 not mixup on Vista released after Christmas then sales on Vista was flate. I would have special price for early releases, priced lower than $200 for high version.  With better pricing there would be less pirating going on and more money in MS bank.
