Feeling blue? How about we brighten up your life with a new Windows 10 concept that has been doing the rounds lately. Extra kudos if you love the Windows XP look.
And that’s because this design imagines how things would be in 2018 if that version of the operating system came back — somehow came back. Microsoft may have ended support for Windows XP some four years ago, but the OS still holds a special place in the hearts of many.
Including this YouTuber that set out to answer this question.
The concept video below says it all:
As you can see, the concept design showcases a remastered Windows XP with many fluent and modern user interface elements. Everything from the taskbar to the login screen and power menu has this blend of Windows XP painted over.
In other words, this is about as good as it gets for this fusion of modern Windows elements with the classic coloring of Windows XP.
The Start Menu, in particular, looks absolutely marvelous, retaining the modern live tiles. There’s also the remastered mail application, File Explorer, even a Windows Timeline UI.
And even though this still remains a concept for now, a very cool one, but there are enough pointers here for Microsoft and other designers to run with. Which is to say, design themes and styles for Windows 10 in this classic fashion.
All said, not a bad way to end a week, this.
Not bad, at all.
What do you say?
