Inching. With the Windows 11 2022 Update now out in the open, attention has shifted to what’s next on the horizon. We do know that Microsoft is now working to release new features as part of Moment updates.

These new types of updates will bundle new OS features and make them available to users at regular intervals.

The first of its kind is the aptly named Moment 1 update, which, according to some voices, is nearing launch. In fact, we might be days away from launch.

That’s because Microsoft recently released Windows 11 22H2 build 22621.675 (KB5019509) to the Release Preview channel, bringing with it a number of features. These included the tabbed File Explorer, the Taskbar overflow menu, and a few other neat additions for Insiders to test.

However, underlying evidence suggests that this particular build could actually be the release candidate of the general availability of the Moment 1 update itself.

As discovered by a famed Windows enthusiast, the feature ID “39145991” that enables the Moment 1 feature has apparently been set to 15.

This basically means that it cannot be altered by software that enables and disables hidden Windows features, like ViveTool. In other words, the features will always remain enabled, which is a likely indication that this could indeed be the Moment 1 update.

We have known for some time that the first Moment update will be released in October, and this is simply the emergence of more evidence in support.

Microsoft may even coincide the release of the Moment 1 update for Windows 11 22H2 with the general availability of Windows 10 22H2, which is also lurking somewhere in the shadows.
