I got a need, a need for speed! Microsoft has gone on record saying that Windows 11 is about to be jolted by a bout of blaze come next year. In fact, the focus in 2022 will wholly be on speed.
This, as the company promised to put due attention on improving the performance of the OS.
And heaven knows the operating system needs it.
The company actually released the stable version 1.0 of the Windows App SDK a couple of days back. And to mark the occasion, the Windows Developer team decided to conduct an AUA (Ask Us Anything) about it on the Windows 11 subreddit.
During the session, some users complained about the sluggish UI performance of Windows 11.
Acknowledging these problems, the developer team confirmed that it is indeed working to address these issues. This means that next year, the Windows 11 22H2 feature update could bring a faster overall UI interaction response and improved performance.
“Performance will be an area of focus for us in 2022. A lot of that focus will go into startup/launch perf; in terms of UI elements rendering on the screen (after the framework is loaded), we’ve tested the scalability of doing things like putting 10k buttons on the screen, etc. Most of the UI elements render pretty quickly already, but it would be good to understand if there are specific UI element scaling/slowness issues you’re experiencing and we could take a look into that specific scenario.”
They also revealed that they have a dedicated team formed recently to tackle this more holistically.
Redmond seems to be taking user feedback pretty seriously now that the OS has launched.
Then again, this is not the first time the software titan has touched upon the performance its latest and greatest operating system. Back in September, the company went into details of how the OS was designed to get the best performance out of available hardware.
It is clear that more work needs to be done, and it appears that this is exactly what the wizards behind Redmond walls are focused on right now.
