After missing out on a new build last week, Insiders now have access to a new one in the form of Windows 11 build 22000.120. And though low on features, this version of the preview is high on fixes.

This is not surprising, considering that the underlying bits of the OS are almost complete, and these builds primarily bring improvements based on user feedback. Some features, like Android app support, have yet to debut, but that’s about it.

So, anyway, back to the story.

As Microsoft notes, build 22000.120 brings a new Family widget into the mix that shows information about the family groups of a given user that are connected to their Microsoft accounts.

The big idea is allowing you the ability to see the recent activity from your family members.

Microsoft has also added notification badges for the Chat icon on the Taskbar, but this will not be available to all users right away. That’s because the original feature is currently on a limited rollout.

Additionally, File Explorer context menus are also being tweaked to make them compact, which makes them more suited for use with a mouse pointer.

There are also some UI tweaks for the Taskbar, par for the course.

More importantly, this new preview version brings along a metric ton of bug fixes and other improvements that Insiders have reported to the company. This is always a good thing, and why we are all here in the first place.

This update should be available via Windows Update for user running Beta and Dev Channel builds. That is, unless you have been moved to the Beta Channel to Release Preview due to lack of supported hardware. In which case you will be testing Windows 10 version 21H2.
