It’s about time! Microsoft has just released a new version of the Windows 11 preview for both Beta and Dev channels. Build 22000.160 is rolling out today, and it is an interesting one!
This version brings with it a couple of general improvements and only a single little fix — odd for an operating system that is due for arrival soon. There are plenty of known issues that you will want to be aware of, though.
So, there’s that.
As announced, the major addition in this round is by way of an updated Alarms and Clock app, which is now simply called Clock. This is something that the company had teased before, with Windows boss Panos Panay highlighting the new features like Focus Timer, Spotify, and To Do integration.
This is how it looks:
Additionally, Focus Sessions lets users set a timer to focus on tasks while listening to their Spotify playlists right within the application. Also of interest will be the new Habit Building feature that will let users set goals and track their progress.
Another change concerns Windows Update, where the OS now provides users with an estimate of the time required for a restart when installing updates.
Microsoft has removed the feature for those running these builds on traditional hard drives, making it exclusive to SSD users. The firm does promise that it aims to bring back the feature after ironing out the bugs.
Speaking of bugs, there is a single bug fix in this build, whereby the company fixed an issue with the Location in Use icon showing in the Taskbar, even when its usage was blocked in preferences.
There’s a long list of known issues in this build, longer than usual, which you will want to give a scan at the link above.
Happy downloading!
