Windows 8.1 Update 2 Rumored To Be 3GB In Size, Start Menu Not Included

post aims to solve this mystery a little, and claims that the second update to Windows 8.1 might be here between August and September, and interestingly, will have a download size of 3GB — which could be an indication that Microsoft is packing in several important features. The first update to Windows 8.1, by comparison, was less than a third this size. This is what the post says, by the way:

“Spoke to a helpful rep and he sorted out my issue with the phone activation application. I asked him about Windows 9 and he said it was about a year away but they were being trained on update 2 for August or September time frame which will be served up by the store apparently and it is another 3Gb download. That is what I was told, now whether to believe them I don’t know but what the heck would they be doing with a 3Gb download to update the OS?”
Additionally, chances of Start Menu being included in this upcoming version of Windows are slim to none, and Microsoft seems to have reserved this feature for Windows 9. Take all this information with a pinch of salt, though, as these are rumors, and not official confirmations. But what glorious rumors they are, in particular the bit about the download size. If true, then there is a fair chance that Redmond is preparing a whole bunch of features and new options for the platforms. We should find out in the coming months, either way.]]>
