How to Launch It
- Open the traditional Control Panel through the Start Screen or using the Run Windows command: “control”.
- Select “Category” view for Control Panel.
- Select “Hardware and Sound” category. This opens a new page containing the subcategories.
- Select “Windows Mobility Center”. This will launch the applet on the same control panel page.
- Brightness – In case you don’t have a hardware button to change the brightness of your screen, you can use the mobility center. It contains a slider to quickly adjust the screen brightness as per your need.
- Volume– This utility provides options to mute/unmute the system volume, or adjust the volume as per your requirement.
- Battery Status – You can view your current battery status. Also, you can change the power plan that your machine is using currently.
- External Display – This can be useful when you are about to give a presentation. Connect a secondary display quickly from here, or manage a connected secondary display.
- Sync Center – Windows can sync your data between your machine and network folders, as well as external devices. This can be useful to back up your data across network or in portable devices. Windows provide a utility called Sync Center which can manage these synchronizations.
- Presentation Settings – This might be one of the most useful, but highly obscured utilities provided by Windows. There is always a chance of your machine going crazy while giving a presentation; it may go to sleep, it may start displaying crazy wallpapers, or the system may start giving distracting notifications. This utility mitigates all those unexpected interruptions by setting your PC in a presentation mode.
