How to Launch It

  • Invoke the Start Screen by hitting Windows Key.
  • Search for the “Photos” app tile. Clicking it will launch the app.
OR
  • As an alternative, type “Photos” on the Start Screen. The app will come up in the search result list. Clicking it will launch the app.
Photos acts as a central hub for pictures. It doesn’t stop at organizing pictures only from your hard disk. It can also list photos from your online accounts of Facebook, Flickr and SkyDrive. Right now, you can modify (that is, delete) photos only from your Pictures library, and not of the online services. Photos still being actively developed, you can expect support for more online services and functionalities soon after Windows 8 launches. Besides that, you can import photos from an external device like a digital camera. On connecting the camera, Photos will automatically detect the device and start collecting pictures from it.

Static Tile and Live Tile

After you launch Photos app for the first time, the tile of the app turns into a live tile. It starts displaying thumbnails of the photos that it has collected from the Pictures library and online services. ………… ]]>
