Inside Microsoft, there is a related fixation on whether Windows 8 will succeed and, yes, there is a contingent of people stuck in a paradoxical position: They understand that the success of Microsoft is inexorably linked to Windows, and thus that Windows 8 must succeed. Well this is a bit worrying when you think about it.
Microsoft is not in a position where they can afford to have an internal conflict about the next version of Windows. They should be
This said i don’t fully agree with the vision behind Windows 8 but at least it is courageous.
I would have however prefered that the current Windows 8 was just a Tablet/Convertible edition and that Microsoft take more time to come with a true next gen Windows for PC.
A true next gen Windows should blow people away and not just be the right O.S for slates and Tablet PC.
Moreover a true next gen Windows should come with true next gen PC.
It really hurt me that Apple can dare to release a $500 tablet with a 2048*1536 resolution while a competitor like Samsung is not even able to release a Full HD Tablet.
Normally by now Full HD should be the bare minimum for PC.
There should already be some retina display monitor for the PC in the pipeline.
A true next gen PC could be an all in one desktop with a customizable orientation, with a retina display, with an optional tablet as input medium, which can be used as mobile client for the PC, and kinect like capabilities.
