Hold on there; not so fast.
It may be true that Windows has become stable and is not as hot as the mobile OSes today on the market. It is also true that Windows, currently, has relatively no market in the mobile devices, with Windows 7.
However, to say that Windows is irrelevant is too outrageous and ridiculous! Windows currently powers 90 percent of the computers. That means that 90% of the world currently rely on Windows for their day to day tasks. Most computer users need computers to get work done, and they are relying on Windows to make their experience safe and smooth.
Windows is far from irreverent for enterprises. If it is difficult for enterprises to just upgrade from XP to Seven, just imagine how disastrous it would be for enterprises to have to upgrade to a totally different OS, like Linux or OSX. Enterprises depend on Windows, and Windows is crucial for them to function. We, as a society, depend on enterprises.
I don’t want to hear the ridiculous comment about Windows being irrelevant anymore. Maybe in the long term future, but not now. That quote is a big fat lie!
Apple has taken bold risks and is being rewarded with the success of its i products. But to me, those days will not go on forever. There was a window of opportunity that Apple took and Microsoft made the strategic mistake of ignoring Apple’s moves. Let’s see how Windows8 will change that…
