Then, go to the Wireless menu, located on the bottom left side.
When you will click on the Wireless menu, a new menu will appear on the right side.
The first option on the right side will be Airplane mode.
There will be a sliding switch which is by default on the off position.
You can slide the slider to turn on the Airplane mode and disable all the wireless connections.
Microsoft has managed to make these functions fairly easy to reach and easy to access in Windows 8.

I wonder why they add the airplane mode. On the same screen, you could just turn off the wi-fi and it will do exactly the same thing. Is MS thinking to have phone option in the future?
