Nokia has long been rumored an entry into the phablet (or large screen smartphone, if you will) domain, and the anticipation only grew as the company unleashed its Windows Phone 8 based Lumia lineup.
And these past few weeks we have had an ample amount of leaked codenames, details, and graphical benchmarks about this new device. We even recently found out that the large screen handset is set to become official at a Nokia event slated for late September in New York as the Lumia 1520.
Now we may just have our first look at the device, courtesy of WPCentral.
This particular device is said to carry the codename Nokia Bandit, and is set to arrive on store shelves with a 6-inch touchscreen display that can deliver a full HD resolution.
Additionally, the smartphone is said to sport a design similar to that of Lumia 925 with a polycarbonate body that does away with metal entirely, and is expected to offer a 20-megapixel PureView camera on the back for high quality imaging.
A quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor inside is said to provide very capable processing performance across all areas of smartphone computing.
The Nokia Lumia 1520 is rumored to arrive on shelves with Windows Phone 8 GDR3 straight out of the box, which is a given considering that this platform release of Microsoft’s mobile platform packs in support for 1080p screens and quad-core processors.
But since there is no official confirmation on anything now, from the hardware specifications of the handset to its name, these details should be taken with a grain of salt.
Same goes for the leaked photo above, of which there is no confirmation that it is legit. Nevertheless, the image comes with proto.nokia.com written at the bottom of the screen which is usual for all Nokia testing prototype devices.
