Contest in town? Microsoft and Calcalist announced on Thursday plans to a second Artificial Intelligence and Big Data Startup Competition.

Final round of the competition is set to take place at the “Mind the Data 2018” conference, to be held by Calcalist next month in Tel Aviv.

The Redmond based technology giant will host the winning startup at its Seattle headquarters. Representatives of the winning startup will get an opportunity to network with Microsoft executives and other local tech firms via a program of roundtable meetings.

Calcalist will invite the first and second place winners to participate in the newspaper’s Berlin conference next year, where they will get a chance to meet with potential partners and investors. Airfare and hotel costs are included in the invitation.

The startup that comes in second place will also receive 20 hours of financial advising by KPMG Israel, as well as 20 hours of business advising and mentorship by Israeli enterprise software company Kryon Systems.

The competition attracts some of the brightest minds in the field.

Clew Medical was the winner last year, with the company using artificial intelligence technologies to help intensive care units cut down on treatment time and costs by tracking patient data in real-time and monitoring the capacity of healthcare providers.

Medical data management startup MDClone took second place in last year’s competition. It develops a system for ensuring patient confidentiality during the analysis of medical data.
