Nokia Campaigning To Bring Instagram App To Windows Phone

Rarely do you get to see a corporate entity go to such extent for its user base, but it appears that Finnish telecom giant has set its eyes on bringing an official Instagram app to its mobile platform of choice.

Word recently got out yesterday that Nokia was reportedly set to get an Instagram app for its Windows Phone based smartphones as a timed exclusive. It is quite obviously in line with the company’s strategy to differentiate its Lumia lineup of smartphones, by bringing exclusive apps and services.

An official Instagram app is one of the few missing from the Windows Phone platform, much to the dismay or users and Microsoft alike.

Not it appears that while nothing is certain as of yet with regards to the app, Nokia has confirmed that it is trying to convince the company to join the Windows Phone party.

In fact, it went ahead and created a simple app inspiringly called #2InstaWithlove that allows users to take photos with a Polaroid effect applied with a hashtag #2InstaWithLove which can then be shared on social networks. An official description reads:

“Many of you have asked when Instagram will be coming to Windows Phone, and the #2InstaWithLove app was created as a way for you to have your voice heard…It’s all about showing Instagram just how passionate the Windows Phone community is.”

And that’s not all, folks. The company then followed it up with an Instagram clone by the name of SophieLens with similar functionality to the Instagram app, and is giving it away free.

All in the name of trying to persuade Instagram to develop for the platform and provide them with a glimpse of just how active the Windows Phone community is.

Now whether this little operation is a success, still remains to be seen. If nothing, it may just add to Nokia’s reputation among the Windows Phone user base — not a bad bargain, by any means.
