Nokia Lumia 521 Is Now The Most Used Device In The US, AdDuplex Data Shows

Time for another statistics fix! AdDuplex has just released its monthly report on Windows Phone devices, and this one comes with a fair few surprises up its proverbial sleeves.

The latest data from the online advertising network shows that Nokia Lumia 521 has now become the number one Windows Phone in the United States — it now commands a market share of 19.2 percent. On seventh place is its brother, the Lumia 520.

The affordable smartphone surpassed the previous number one device on the list, the Verizon exclusive Lumia 822 in October, which is now down at second place with 14.1 percent.

In fact, the Lumia 520 continues to dominate the rankings worldwide, leaving other Windows Phone handsets gasping for breath.

AdDuplex numbers show that the 520 now holds an utterly commanding 21.3 percent of the market across the globe. The Lumia 920 is a distant second with 9.3 percent, and another affordable smartphone rounds up the top three — the Lumia 620 with 9.1 percent.

The Nokia Lumia 1020 still has not cracked the top ten worldwide, even as both Nokia and Microsoft continue their marketing barrage highlighting the near magical imaging capabilities of the device.

It now sits at position twenty-one overall, and fourteen when only taking Windows Phone 8 devices into account. The deluxe device is yet to break into the US top ten, but a lot of that has got to do with its price and the upgrade cycles of consumers.

Not to mention end users are surely waiting for newer Windows Phone handsets that are set to be unveiled before the end of the year.

Speaking of users, AdDuplex reveals that users are now downloading twice as many Windows Phone apps compared to a year ago. This is a solid growth pattern, and one that will help the operating platform gain further developer acceptance.
