Nokia Starts The Rollout Of Updates For Lumia 920, 820 And 620

The firmware updates for the three most popular Windows Phone 8 smartphones from the Finnish mobile phone maker have started flowing down to very eager consumers.

Nokia Lumia 920, Lumia 820 and Lumia 620 are the lucky handsets.

As you may recall, the company first announced these new updates for the first time back in March. And on Wednesday the rollout officially began.

The company announced the availability of the new software updates on its website, confirming that the software would be available for download on the Lumia 920 and 820 as version 1232.5957.1308.00xx, while the 620 will get it as 1030.6407.1308.00xx.

Nokia does maintain that the exact software version may vary by the market.

The owners of the above devices will soon be able to download these new updates. They pack a long list of improvements such as enhanced automatic display brightness adjustment, performance and stability improvements along with bug fixes for the two premier sets — the 920 and 820.

Lumia 620 update is said to bring a nice selection of improvements including better touchscreen functionality, improved voice quality with Bluetooth headsets and superior camera performance.

Enhancements to stability, performance and usability for the budget handset also make the cut.

As is usually the case, this update will arrive on devices in phases, instead of all at once. So don’t be surprised if you don’t see a notification straight away. Nokia estimates the rollout to be completed within a few weeks.

Expect a notification on your smartphone soon telling you that an update is available. You will then be asked to connect to a WiFi network to initiate the download.
