Windows 10 version 2004 is finally here. Also known as the May 2020 Update, this feature release adds in several new enhancements, while also touches up on a number of different areas.
Even system requirements.
The two most important things that you must keep an eye on if you want to upgrade to this new version of Windows 10 are the known issues and the hardware required to run it. This way you can find out whether your computer or device can actually install this new version without any trouble.
Well, Microsoft already let us know about the problems, and the company had already provided details on the hardware required to run the May 2020 Update.
The basic system requirements to run Windows 10 version 2004 are:
- Processor: 1GHz or faster compatible CPU or SoC
- RAM: 1GB for 32-bit, 2GB for 64-bit
- Hard Drive: 32GB or larger hard disk
- Graphics Card: GPU compatible with DirectX 9 or later with WDDM 1.0 drivers
- Display: 800 x 600
Pretty modest, as far as system requirements go.
Of course, the software titan very recently refreshed the list of processors that this new version of Windows 10 plays nicely with.
But the most notable change to the hardware requirements for the May 2020 Update is storage. You now need at least 32GB of available space to install this new version. This makes sense, as Microsoft has added in new functionality in the OS, and a bigger hard drive should help run everything smoother.
An Internet connection is not required for Windows 10, but is obviously needed to deploy updates.
And finally, there are features that require special hardware, which is not something that is different to the previous versions of the operating system. Like Windows Hello, which needs biometrics hardware, and cameras certified for facial recognition.
Microsoft also maintains a full Windows 10 system requirements section on its website that you can check out for complete details.
