Microsoft rolled out this month’s Patch Tuesday updates a few hours back, and while the patches fix several flaws in software like Windows, Internet Explorer and Office, Windows 8.1 was not a particular highlight this time around.
Still, the company also introduced some non-security fixes for Windows 8.1 and Windows RT 8.1 installations. And according to Microsoft, these are meant to resolve issues in Windows.
As Redmond details, the KB2887595 update offers several performance related fixes on Windows 8.1, Windows RT 8.1 and Windows Server 2012 R2:
“These updates (*.msu) provide a collection of performance and reliability improvements that are designed to improve the Windows 8.1 experience. We recommend that you apply all of these updates as part of your regular maintenance routines. Failure to install all of the packages listed above could leave your machine in an untested state.”
Complete and incarnate details, however, are missing.
But it is safe to assume that these fix several bugs and performance issues that users have reported over the past few weeks on Windows 8.1 and Windows RT 8.1. Some of them have had a fair bit of issues when installing or after upgrading to Microsoft’s newest operating system.
Browsing problems, slow boot and shutdown performance and failure to wake up from sleep are some of the concerns reported, so hopefully these latest updates lays these issues to rest.
These new updates are delivered via Windows Update, as is usually the case. However, keep in mind that some may require a computer reboot after installation.
