Windows 8.1 Enterprise Preview ISO Due For Release In The Coming Weeks

Microsoft unleashed the preview version of Windows 8.1 in the Windows Store on June 26, and soon after released the downloadable ISO files of the new operating system.

But one thing that kind of flew under the radar was the preview version of the new OS for large companies that have currently installed Windows 8 Enterprise on their PCs? As things stand, Microsoft has them covered — only that they may have to wait a little bit longer.

In a post on the Microsoft Springboard Series blog, Redmond has detailed what businesses should do if they want to try out and evaluate the preview version of Windows 8.1:

“Wait for the availability of the Windows 8.1 Enterprise Preview ISO, which should be available in the coming weeks. Watch for an announcement on this blog when it is available.”

A simple enough solution to a simple enough problem!

The software titan also recommends that businesses that are running version of the operating system older than Windows 8 should download the current Windows 8.1 ISO preview files for evaluation:

“Use this with MDT 2013 or System Center 2012 Configuration Manager R2 to refresh existing computers, or burn to a DVD or copy to a USB key for simple installation.”

The slow enterprise adaption of Windows 8, while on the slower side of things, is understandable. Large companies usually take their time to ensure that all their software and hardware is compatible with a new operating system.

And with the news that the Enterprise edition of Windows 8.1 Preview is set for arrival soon, these organizations can deploy and test the upcoming OS. Expect another announcement soon, once the ISO files for this version are up.
