App Watch: eBay

This is one app that has been available on Microsoft’s new platform for quite a while now, but even though it is one of the most popular Windows 8 apps around, it has rarely been updated.

Until now, that is. The company has just released a major update for the app — one that comes with several new features as well as performance enhancements.

New features include access to several eBay options right from the Metro UI like messages, purchase history, ask seller a question, save a particular seller, as well as view seller’s other items. For more what the app does, here’s a snippet from the official description:

“Never miss a deal with the eBay app for Windows 8™ with instant alerts when you are outbid or auctions are ending. You can customize even more alerts so you stay on top of your shopping. Pinning ‘Live Tiles’ to the homepage provides updated information about your activity.”

eBay lists and items can be pinned onto the Start Screen, and Live Tile support means that users can receive information on listings easily and effortlessly.

And that is not all, the developers have promised several new features in a future update, based on the feedback they receive from the community. Available from all three processors (x86, x64 and ARM), if you have anything to do with eBay, this app is well worth a download.

Still, it is nice to see a major online site like eBay hop in on the Windows 8 bandwagon so early. Now, only if this could be said of other major Internet companies.

Yes, I am talking to you, Google, Facebook, Twitter and friends.
