Games Dominate The Top Paid Apps List On The Windows Store

Brace for more gaming news heading your way. The list of top paid apps on the Windows Store is filled to the brim with games, with room for only a few other categories.

Fruit Ninja is currently the number one paid application, available at a special price.

This special discount cuts it price from $4.99 to only $1.99 — making it even cheaper than the iPad version of the game, which retails for $2.99. All said and done, Fruit Ninja is enjoying some terrific success on the Windows 8 platform.

Disney Fairies Hidden Treasures has managed to sneak on to second place, even though the app costs a heavy $4.99. Still, this is enough to top Angry Birds Star Wars, which has dropped to third place.

As you can see from the image above, games are currently dominating the top paid software section in the Windows Store. A few productivity apps do make an appearance like PDF Touch, Plex and the Merriam-Webster Dictionary.

No real surprises here, though, given the fact that most of these titles offer ARM compatibility and work on Windows RT devices like the Surface RT, and other such tablets.

Besides, several of the top applications in the list above include touch optimized apps, undoubtedly to the delight of Microsoft as it raps up its efforts to bring more touchscreen devices to the market.
