Leak Reveals Microsoft Surface Headphones 2

Surface Headphones

As far as leaks go, this one sounds legit. Puns aside, looks like Microsoft Surface Headphones 2 are on their way, with this new generation bringing a bunch of improvements to the table.

They have been discovered in a Bluetooth SIG Certification listing, which hint that these new cans will introduce a range of welcome upgrades that improve the listening and user experience of these expensive new devices.

Upgrades like an improved battery life, compared to the first model.

The new device is said to offer up to 20 hours per charge, which makes for an uptick of around 2 hours over the current generation. Additionally, Microsoft seems to have improved wireless connectivity as well, and the Surface Headphones 2 comes with Bluetooth 5.

Versus the 4.2 on the current models.

If you’re into the whole Qualcomm AptX thing, then you’ll be pleased to know that support for this feature is also included, alongside new controls that make adjusting noise cancellation even more convenient than before.

For comparison, existing Surface Headphones users have to control the noise cancellation level by rotating the left dial.

A new generation model is perfect time to improve the gestures a little. And that is exactly what Microsoft has done with the Surface Headphones 2, with the new model making it easier to launch voice assistants — including Apple Siri and Google Assistant, as the headphones support iOS and Android.

So far, so good.

But what about launch?

By the looks of things, it appears that Microsoft will make these official at the BUILD 2020 event, which is set to take place in just a few weeks from now. Considering the fact that the company already has more hardware lined up for reveal, it only makes sense to throw in the Surface Headphones 2 there too.

We’ll just have to wait and see.
